In the translation industry, jobs are usually measured in words, but sometimes also in hours, characters, lines, or pages. There are jobs where you are paid a flat fee.
Small projects may have a
minimum fee, while large ones might include volume discounts.
You’ll also see
match rates (like 100% match or no match), these are covered in the Rate Mapping screen, not here.

Choosing units

Most translation management systems use words as the main unit.
For example:

  • In Protemos, the unit is called Word.

  • In XTRF, it’s called Source word by default.

If your integration uses one of these systems, simply select Word on the right side.
Vendor portals can be more complex, since they sometimes include minimum fees and discounts directly in the job data. It may be that you do not see the unit you need to map on the right side - in that case you need to add a new unit or price line in your business management system, or in the list of units under Manage my business management system, if you are not using a commercial BMS.

Understanding minimum fees and discounts

Minimum fees and discounts only apply when you’re connected to vendor portals.

  • Some portals, like Lionbridge LCX, clearly show when a job includes a minimum fee.

  • Others, like XTRF, don’t mark it directly — you’ll just notice that the total price is higher than the word-based calculation (minimum fee) or lower (discount).

Deciding how to record minimum fees

You can choose how BeLazy records minimum fees in your system:

  1. Minimum fee difference (recommended)
BeLazy splits the job into two parts:

    • The actual work (for example, 10 words × €0.10 = €1)

    • The minimum fee difference (€9 more to reach €10 total)
This option gives you visibility later if clients ask to change or remove your minimum fees.

  2. Flat fee lump sum
BeLazy creates one single receivable (for example, €10 total).
The job analysis is shown with a price of €0.
This method is simpler but gives you less insight into real costs.

How to map units

The interface is straightforward:

  • Left side: Units coming from the vendor portal or TMS (including minimum fee or discount units, if any).

  • Right side: Units used in your business management system (BMS).

Match each source unit with the correct target unit — just like you did during specialization mapping. More than one source unit can belong to one business management system unit.
Once all source units are matched, your setup is complete.

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll find a radio button where you can choose the minimum fee registration method (difference or flat fee).

Important note for XTRF users

Make sure the units you select are compatible with the job types you chose earlier during workflow mapping.

Important note for Plunet users

Plunet does not have the concept of units, thus all the price lines appear on the right if you are using Plunet as a business management system. Also, it does not separate fuzzy matches from price lines, thus you may have different fuzzy matches categories or job-unit combinations appear if you are connecting to a Plunet vendor portal - in which case you can just map all of them to words (or hours, etc. where necessary).
